Breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day. Well, it’s a toss-up between that and lunch and dinner. And second breakfast. And elevenses…
Bacon, biscuits and gravy, waffles… it doesn’t matter what time of day, it makes for an excellent meal. In a food allergy house, though, it’s not always the easiest meal to eat. Enter the product of today:
My mom’s husband (who I guess is technically my stepdad, but since they got married after I was already married with a kid, it seems an odd epithet) is gluten sensitive. He eats quite a few gluten free products. He doesn’t like most of them and often refers to them as “soggy cardboard.” These Kashi Gluten Free Cinnamon Waffles come as a pleasant surprise if that is your point of reference.
Unlike some gluten free products I have had, this does not taste like lightly sweetened sticks. In fact, I would probably take these up against an Eggo on most days. These are egg free, dairy free, gluten free, Top 8 free… in other words, they are perfect for our EOE dude. Topped with some Earth Balance spread, some warm maple syrup, and some banana slices, it makes a perfect breakfast for a lot of people with common food allergies or restrictions. (Note: This does contain pea fiber, so if you have pea restriction, unfortunately these waffles won’t work for you. Sorry!)
If you find yourself missing waffles, check these out. They may cost a little bit more than Eggo waffles, but seeing our little guy enjoy a waffle with his sister made that little extra totally worth it.
