Enjoy(ing) Life!

Not long ago, I received an email from the good people at Enjoy Life foods.  They had found my humble little blog and read of my love for their products.  (By the way, if you aren’t familiar with Enjoy Life yet, check them out.  All of their products are free of the Top 8 allergens (eggs, dairy, soy, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish), gluten-free, and certified Kosher and Halal.  Find out more by clicking here.) They wanted me to have a chance to try some of their new stuff.  To make a long story short: IMG_2841

I got a delivery! Needless to say, I was super stoked. I couldn’t get at it until the kids went to bed, but as soon as they zonked out, I ripped the box open to see what sort of goodies had come in the mail.  Here’s what I found:

THREE brand new chewy bar flavors!  Enjoy Life chewy bars are perfect for a quick breakfast or a light snack, or even a simple dessert.  We have had the other flavors, with our kids’ favorites being the Cocoa Loco and Sunseed Crunch.  We were all pretty excited to try the new flavors, but I think Lennox’s face sums it up the best:IMG_2846We all chose a bar to try, then shared with everyone else, and talked about what we thought of them.  Here’s a basic summary of those thoughts.

Caramel Blondie

No surprises here.  The Caramel Blondie chewy bar is outstanding. IMG_2848The caramel has an almost warm flavor, sweet enough to be a dessert, but enough substance to be a breakfast. This flavor is a new favorite in our house.  Our girls gave it a thumbs up immediately.

Carrot Cake

Honesty time.  I do not like carrot cake.  I don’t see the point.  There are so many better desserts out there. I like carrots, but they have no business being in cake. Why have carrot cake when you can have chocolate cake?  Or even better, brownies? That said, the Carrot Cake chewy bars surprised me a bit.  I was fully expecting to hate it, but it was alright.  I know that doesn’t sound like a ringing endorsement, but carrot cake is one of those things that not many people are halfway about.  You either love it or hate it.  The fact that I found these chewy bars to have good flavor despite my dislike for carrot cake shows that, if you do like carrot cake, these are very well done.

Lemon Blueberry Poppyseed

You guys…. These things…. THIS flavor was the big surprise.  I am not typically a fan of blueberry stuff.  If a blueberry muffin sits near my non-blueberry muffin, I can taste the invasion of the blueberry.  Blergh….  But these Lemon Blueberry Poppyseed chewy bars are outstanding!  The lemon flavor is very pronounced, and the blueberry adds a pleasant sweetness without overpowering everything else.  The poppy seeds add a nice, subtle crunch.  I was very impressed with these.  And the best part? Reese at the whole thing and loved it!  Definitely a win in our book.

Check out the Enjoy Life website to find out where you can find these near you or to buy them online.

Many thanks to Kathleen at Enjoy Life for reaching out and sending us these. They will likely become a permanent part of our grocery list!
